Kaizen Porch Project

Madrone Hardwood Custom Bathroom Cabinet

Rick's Bathroom Project
A long skinny bathroom can be sexy, and wonderful, but not with a shallow short tub, a tall wall blocking half the window and a door that opens the wrong direction.  No amount of cheerfully stenciled tulips will fix that!  The wall was replaced with glass and the tub was replaced with a deep Duravit brand tub from Germany that is 5 ½’ long and only 27” wide.  The floors, vanity, countertop, mirror frame and wall boutique are all Pacific Madrone hardwood.  Also note that the tub is fully insulated, so that your hot bath can stay hot for a nice ling time.  There are a million little “nice-to-do” things that a good contractor will do to make your experience even better down the road.

Audrey bathroom - “Attic Bathroom with Custom Built-Ins”
The space and angles in this top floor bathroom were being wasted by unnecessary constraints.  By moving the downstairs toilet vent back 2’and taking advantage of the lower ceiling area for more storage space and seating, we were able to make this bathroom feel quite luxurious.
Note: We were able to salvage enough old fir from the attic floor to make trim for the built-in cabinets and lay a new/old floor in the bathroom to perfectly blend with the rest of the upstairs suite.
